MOVING NIMBLY BETWEEN ORIGINAL BLUEGRASS, SOULFUL AMERICANA, AND HONKY TONK COUNTRY,
HITCH & THE GIDDYUP HAVE DEVELOPED A REPUTATION AS A DISTINCT LIVE ACT IN THEIR HOME STATE OF CONNECTICUT. THEIR RICH SONG CRAFT, INSTRUMENTAL PROWESS, AND FREEWHEELING STAGE PRESENCE HAS WON CONVERTS IN CLUBS, PUBS, THEATERS AND DIVES THROUGHOUT NEW ENGLAND.

"Tightly based on a loose story..."

Hitch & the Giddyup was formed in 2014 as a pick-up band hosting a monthly bluegrass night at a tavern in Black Rock, CT. It didn't take long for them to coalesce into something more, as the five members discovered an uncommon chemistry, camaraderie, and interest in making original music. 2017 saw the release of their first record "Under the Neon Swine", a fresh burst of energetic, grassy originals with songwriting & singing duties swapped chiefly between guitarist Dan Carlucci & bassist Bob Csugie. "II" followed in 2018 with GRAMMY award-winning producer Brendan Muldowney at the helm. The group cut the record mostly live during a two day stint in the fabled Power Station studio, lending freshness & urgency to a batch of tunes that saw them both looking back to classic country and forward to progressive improvisatory bluegrass. Their third record, 2020's "Another Gig in the Bag", was a pandemic project of sorts, with recording taking place remotely at home studios on a set of nostalgic, occasionally celebratory, often beer-soaked Americana originals that revealed a sly & well-honed songcraft.

Since then, Hitch has performed steadily, relentlessly, and joyfully - always adding new songs along the way and searching for new surprises to wring out of the old ones. They are set to go back into the studio in 2024 with a large road-tested batch of dynamic new tunes...come out to a show and let us know what you think - Giddyup!
