Moving nimbly between original bluegrass, soulful Americana, and honky tonk country, Hitch & the Giddyup have developed a reputation as a distinct live act in their home state of Connecticut. Their rich song craft, instrumental prowess, and freewheeling stage presence has won converts in pubs, clubs, theaters, festivals, and dives throughout New England.

Hitch & the Giddyup formed in 2014 as a pick-up band hosting a monthly bluegrass night at a tavern in Black Rock, CT. It didn’t take long for the group to coalesce, as the five members discovered an uncommon chemistry, camaraderie, and shared passion for creating original music.
In 2017, they released their first record, Under the Neon Swine, a lively debut built on grassy, high-energy originals with songwriting & vocal duties shared between guitarist Dan Carlucci and bassist Bob Csugie. II followed in 2018, produced by GRAMMY winner Brendan Muldowney. Recorded live over two days at the legendary Power Station New England, the album is full of freshness & urgency, fusing classic country roots with progressive, improvisational bluegrass.
Their third album, 2020's Another Gig in the Bag, was born of necessity: a pandemic-era project tracked remotely from home studios. Its twelve tracks lean nostalgic - beer-soaked Americana that shows off the band's sharp, well-earned songwriting instincts.Hitch & the Giddyup keeps playing steadily & joyfully, continuing to write new material and reworking old favorites on stage. 2026 finds them with a new record in the can, once again produced by Brendan Muldowney: Wreck This Train, a road-tested collection of dynamic, compelling songs due out in the fall.
