MOVING NIMBLY BETWEEN ORIGINAL BLUEGRASS, SOULFUL AMERICANA, AND HONKY TONK COUNTRY,
HITCH & THE GIDDYUP HAVE DEVELOPED A REPUTATION AS A DISTINCT LIVE ACT IN THEIR HOME STATE OF CONNECTICUT. THEIR RICH SONG CRAFT, INSTRUMENTAL PROWESS, AND FREEWHEELING STAGE PRESENCE HAS WON CONVERTS IN CLUBS, PUBS, THEATERS AND DIVES THROUGHOUT NEW ENGLAND.

"Tightly based on a loose story..."

Hitch & the Giddyup was formed in 2014 as a pick-up band hosting a monthly bluegrass night at a tavern in Black Rock, CT. It didn’t take long for the group to coalesce, as the five members discovered an uncommon chemistry, camaraderie, and shared passion for creating original music.

In 2017, they released their first record, "Under the Neon Swine", a burst of energetic, grassy originals with songwriting and vocal duties shared between guitarist Dan Carlucci and bassist Bob Csugie. "II" followed in 2018, produced by GRAMMY-award winner Brendan Muldowney. Recorded mostly live over two days at the legendary Power Station studio, the album blends classic country influences with progressive, improvisatory bluegrass, capturing freshness and urgency in every track.

Their third record, 2020’s "Another Gig in the Bag", was a pandemic project, recorded remotely at home studios. The album features twelve nostalgic, celebratory, beer-soaked Americana originals, showcasing the band’s sly, well-honed songwriting craft.

Hitch & the Giddyup continues to perform relentlessly and joyfully, always adding new songs and exploring fresh takes on old favorites. As of early 2026, the band has a new record in the can once again tracked with Brendan Muldowney at the helm - a road-tested batch of dynamic, compelling songs to be released in late spring - Giddyup!
